Kids Bush Play Drop-off

Do you want to run but have no way to look after the kid/s? We don’t want that to stop you from having a #runwithkunanyi! We’re so stoked to partner with ‘Free to Be. Bush Play And Learning’, who’ll provide Bush Play (Kids drop-off) at our events. It’s complimentary, thanks to the support of the City of Hobart. So while you play on kunanyi, they play and explore nature too; all under expert supervision! (Bookings are still required)

Dawning of a new day over Hobart city

Who and what is Free to Be?

Free to Be. Bush Play And Learning is run by Roxanne, a mum of 2 boys and an experienced Early Years and Primary School teacher and Nature Play worker with a passion for child-led play, nature and learning. She’s worked in Nature Play for the past 7 years, both internationally and in Tasmania. She runs a range of activities across Hobart, including ‘Bush Play Villages’ during the school term and school holidays and ‘Bush Mamas’ Post Partum Villages’, so you can get to know her and experience the joy of playing in the bush outside of our events too.

(Cat, Charlie and Alonnah have attended both the Bush Play Villages and the Post-Partum Villages and absolutely loved them!). She also provides Bush Play (Kids Drop off) at the kunanyi Mountain Run and you can see more in the video.

Roxanne’s first born Theo was her main motivator for starting her Bush Play Villages: seeing him connect to the natural world gives her such joy and she wants to build a community of nature lovers and enthusiasts for him. She’s passionate about child-led play, nature connection and providing opportunities for children to explore developmentally appropriate risks.
